Canberra Airport (CBR)
Airport Information

(Canberra, Australian Capital Territory - ACT, Australia)

Lying directly east of the city's famous Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra Airport (CBR) is situated just 8 km / 5 miles from Canberra city centre, roughly 7 km / 4 miles from nearby Queanbeyan, and around three hours' drive from Sydney. Canberra Airport is sited next to the ALT23 Majura Road and Glenora Drive, and is also close to the suburbs of Duntroon, Fyshwick and Pialligo.

Canberra's important CBR Airport handles only mainly domestic flights from around Australia, with good connections to many of the country's airports - both big and small. These include those of Adelaide, Albury, Brisbane, Darwin, the Gold Coast, Hobart, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and Tamworth. Several flying schools are also based onsite at Canberra Airport, including those operated by both Corporate Air and Brindabella Airlines.

Always remaining committed to providing the best services possible, Canberra Airport is regularly upgrading its facilities and in 2006, spent $20 million extending one of the runways to improve aircraft capabilities. Soon after, leading GPS technology was installed to assist with low-visibility during foggy winter weather.

Ground transportation at Canberra Airport is excellent and the early city centre is a mere ten minutes away by rental car, available near to the Qantas area of the main terminal. The Terminal Circuit provides a drop-off and collection point for passengers and their luggage, while other options include Airliner buses, a queue of taxis directly outside of the terminal, and Brindabella Chauffeured Limousines.
